Shocking news of a potential serial killer lurking around Pretoria has stunned an Afrikaner woman, Marizka Coetzer, who reshared the news online. Residents in the area experienced similar feelings following the discovery of the unidentified suspect's burnt victims.

Talking to TikTok users, Marizka, a journalist who often presents "news in a nutshell," said in a video on her account on 5 August, 2025:

"Hi, everyone. Guess what. Apparently, there's a serial killer on the loose in Pretoria. I'm not sure why the police are so hush-hush about the situation."

According to reports, on Monday, 4 August 2025, the burnt body was found at Waltloo train station in Silverton, becoming the fourth in the last three months. Brigadier Brenda Muridili, a police spokesperson, confirmed that the three other burnt bodies were discovered between June and July 2025.

Eersterus man suspected of multiple murders

In just three months, five women have been found murdered. The only suspect, Helder Isidro, is currently linked to only one of the deaths. The 36-year-old was out on bail when the fifth victim, Loveness Magabe, disappeared in July and was later discovered in a shallow grave in Isidro’s backyard in Eersterus. Investigators believe Isidro used social media to lure his victims.

Magabe had reportedly met Isidro through a dating app and later visited his Eersterust home after arranging to meet. Before the visit, she messaged a friend saying the location felt “dodgy.”

He appeared at the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court and chose to abandon his bail application. Isidro will remain in custody as the case unfolds. During a brief hearing on 4 August, the court postponed the case to 15 October to allow further investigations, including a pending rape charge he is also facing.
